As we begin each New Year, it brings a chance for new beginnings and a fresh start. For me, the holidays are great time to relax and do a bit of reflecting on the previous year. What goals did I accomplish? What do I still have to work on and what didn't I get a chance to do? 2013 was a wonderful year for me both professionally and personally. I met many of my goals and even exceeded my own expectations as a photographer and small business owner. I truly feel that I've found who I am, my photographic voice, what my boundaries are and how I want to grow my business in the New Year.
With that being said, I finally found the time to do something that's been on my list for the last few months - I updated my logo - Hooray!! I wanted to have a logo that was soft, romantic, light, airy and more feminine that reflected my style of photography. I designed my previous logo (which I loved) but it just didn't feel like me anymore. I knew that I wanted it to be hand drawn so it would be unique and not easily reproduced. I wanted to keep hot pink as my main color (it's my favorite!) and incorporate a bit of watercolor throughout the font as well. My degree in Graphic Design allows me to appreciate beautiful design and typography, but I knew I needed to find the perfect designer to help bring my vision to life. Letting go of my creative control isn't easy for me but something I'm learning to do. I can be a bit of control freak when it comes to typography - ha!
I'm so thrilled that Minna May was able to help create & design my gorgeous new logo. I LOVE IT!! I found Minna via Pinterest and instantly fell in love with all of her work. She truly understood my vision and within a few round of proofs, the new Brklyn View Photography logo was born. I nearly cried when it was completed because for the first time it felt like me & I felt at home. I finally have a logo that matches my photography, my brand and most importantly myself. I've updated my website, blog and soon to be printed business cards. I cannot wait for them to arrive!!
Here's to a wonderful new start in 2014! Happy New Year!! xo, Jainé
