5 Reasons To Choose a First Look for Your Wedding!

Today's for the bride is all about the First Look. What exactly is a first look? A first look is when the bride and groom decide to see each before the ceremony to take their portraits together. I know there’s an old saying that says it’s bad luck to see each other before the ceremony but I'm here to say that it’s not! It’s become very common practice and most of my couples choose to have a first look. I absolutely love first looks and here are my top 5 reasons why:

1 - Calm those nerves. It’s your big day and you're probably a little nervous to see each other, right? One of the best reasons for a first look is that you'll be able to connect privately before you walk down the aisle in front of all your friends and family.

2 - Connect before your vows. During your first look, you'll be able to hug, kiss and say how much you love each other vs. having to wait until you say “I do” during your ceremony. Also, for most couples, it might be the only time you are alone together.

3 - Extend your wedding day. Having time scheduled for a first look means that you won’t have to rush from location to location because your photography will start earlier. It’s so nice having additional time for your bridal portraits without worrying about the clock.

4 - More time with your guests. Worried that you're going to miss your cocktail hour because you have to take all your photos after your ceremony? With a first look, you've already taken your bride and groom portraits, and most likely your bridal party and family photos, so you'll be able to enjoy cocktail hour with all of your wedding guests!

5 - Lots more photos of you together! This is by far the best benefit to choosing a first look. In the end, you will have so many more photos of the two of you together vs. not having done a first look. You are investing in your wedding photography so why not get the most out of it? It’s a win-win in my book!
